Schedules - Small Scholars PreSchool

Morning sessions run from 9:00-11:30 and afternoon sessions run from 12:30-3:00. Children may be dropped off up to 15 minutes prior to their session start time.

We follow the Jefferson County Public School schedule.

A typical pre-school student day will follow the schedule below:

Morning	Afternoon	Activity	Description
8:45-9:00	12:15-12:30	Arrival	Children will play on climbing equipment and work with puzzles while classical music plays.
9:00-9:30	12:30-1:00	Class Meeting	Children start the day by singing hello to their classmates. The calendar, weather and daily plan are discussed. Dancing and singing are incorporated to provide a opportunity to move.
9:30-10:10	1:00-1:40	Center Work	Children may choose to play at any center in the classroom. Centers include; art, listening to books on tape, dramatic play, building with blocks, sand table, puzzles, etc. The teacher and assistant move about the room engaging children verbally.
10:10-10:30	1:40-2:00	Snack	Children wash hands and are served a snack. A blessing is said to thank the Lord for providing food. Children are encouraged to talk with their classmates while classical music plays softly in the background.
10:30-10:50	2:00-2:20	Group Work	A story that supports the day's topic is read aloud. Children may be divided into two groups based on their IEPs or they may work as a large group. Activities include; retelling of the story using puppets, dramatizing the story, games that reinforce a skill, cooking, etc.
10:50-11:30	2:20-3:00	Daily Review	More music and movement as well as a discussion of the day's events. Another story may be read aloud. Preparations for dismissal.
